The 93rd Oscar Award took place in Hollywood on Sunday with big surprises and winners.
As an effort to contain the spread of the COVID-19, it was held mostly virtual with few nominees and guests .

Some black and Asian people won some of the Oscar awards and used the opportunity to emphasize on black lives movement, Asian hate and police brutality and demand changes.

DANIEL KALUUYA, a black actor , won the actor in supporting role for the
FILM: “Judas and the Black Messiah”.

FRANCES MCDORMAND won the actress in a leading role for the
FILM: “Nomadland”

YUH-JUNG YOUN from South Korea, won the actress in supporting role for the
FILM: “Minari”

Chloe Zhao is the first woman of color to be awarded best director for the movie Nomadland

Tyler Perry won the JEAN HERSHOLT HUMANITARIAN AWARD and during his acceptance speech, he said “My mother taught me to refuse hate. She taught me to refuse blanket judgment, and in this time, and with all of the Internet and social media and algorithms and everything that wants us to think a certain way, the 24-hour news cycle, it is my hope that all of us, we teach our kids and I want to remember, just refuse hate. Don’t hate anybody. I refuse to hate someone because they are Mexican or because they are black or white or LGBTQ. I refuse to hate someone because they are a police officer. I refuse to hate someone because they are Asian. I would hope that we would refuse hate and I want to take this Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award and dedicate it to anyone who wants to stand in the middle, no matter what’s around the wall. Stand in the middle ’cause that’s where healing happens. That’s where conversation happens. That’s where change happens. It happens in the middle. So anyone who wants to meet me in the middle, to refuse hate, to refuse blanket judgment, and to help lift someone’s feet off the ground, this one is for you too. God bless you and thank you Academy. I appreciate it. Thank you.”

I was able to interview Anthony Giacchino and Alice Doyard who won the award for the Documentary (Short Subject) for the FILM: “COLETTE”
Q. (Niyi Fote) Hello. Congratulations. I just want to say, because your documentary is about a 90‑year‑old woman, how did you discover about her, and what was the facts behind it, and do you have any idea that you would win this Oscar?
A. (Anthony Giacchino) No. I mean, I’ll start with the last thing. No, it wasn’t even on our mind. It was pure documentary luck. We were thinking of something else. In Normandy, a World War II story, we had a wonderful tour guide who said, I know a woman who was in the French Resistance. I’ll introduce to you if you want. And that is how it happened. You know, we didn’t read anything about her. We didn’t know anything about her. It was pure luck that we did.
A. (Alice Doyard) It was luck, and it was so discovering ‑‑ the first time we met her, we saw an amazing character. And we thought this woman deserves more than an interview, and let’s embark with her on a story. And she said yes, and this led to the Oscar today.
A. (Anthony Giacchino) Thank you so much.
A. (Alice Doyard) Thank you.
