US President Biden Speaks in Syracuse, New York on the Shooting down of Chinese Spy Balloon in South Carolina. The decision to shoot down a Chinese surveillance balloon on Saturday is a blow to the US-China relationship, which has been straining for years.
The Chinese balloon was not noticed by the public as it floated east over Alaska, where it was first detected by US authorities and surveillance systems. The monitoring and tracking of its trajectory during discussions about shooting it down without causing damage to structures and the American people.
“We’ve seen them and monitored them, briefed Congress on the capabilities they can bring to the table, but we’ve never seen something as brazen as this.” US official told CNN.
The Chinese spy balloon was shot down without risk to civil and structural integrity on American soil, the case now becomes an object of diplomatic discussion between the United States and China.
