August 13, 2020, will be remembered as a historic day for peace in the Middle East with the signing of a peace agreement between Israel and United Arab Emirates in a diplomatic relationship after a long time of hostilities.

This deal called “Abraham Accord” was made possible with the help of USA President Donald Trump who spoke on the phone earlier this morning with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Emirati Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Zayed, who signed an agreement to fully normalize relations. It is very important for both countries as they shared regional vision of an economically integrated region. It also illustrates their commitment to confronting common threats, as small — but strong — nations. “Things are happening that I can’t talk talk about” but they are amazing. Said Donald Trump.

According to the US Secretary of State, Michael R. Pompeo, “The United States hopes that this brave step will be the first in a series of agreements that ends 72 years of hostilities in the region. Although the peace treaties between Israel and Egypt and Jordan have not yet fulfilled their full potential, since the 1978 Camp David Accords and the 1994 Wadi Arava Agreement, we have witnessed significant economic development in Egypt and Jordan, an unmistakable dividend of peace.”

In addition, delegations from Israel and the United Arab Emirates will meet in the coming weeks to sign bilateral agreements regarding investment, tourism, direct flights, security, telecommunications, technology, energy, healthcare, culture, the environment, the establishment of reciprocal embassies, and other areas of mutual benefit. There will be opening direct ties between two of the Middle East’s most dynamic societies and advanced economies which will transform the region by spurring economic growth, enhancing technological innovation, and forging closer people-to-people relations. Also, The United Arab Emirates and Israel will immediately expand and accelerate cooperation regarding the treatment of and the development of a vaccine for the coronavirus. Working together, these efforts will help save Muslim, Jewish, and Christian lives throughout the region.

Significantly, this diplomatic breakthrough and at the request of President Trump with the support of the United Arab Emirates, Israel will suspend declaring sovereignty over areas outlined in the President’s Vision for Peace and focus its efforts now on expanding ties with other countries in the Arab and Muslim world. The United States, Israel and the United Arab Emirates are confident that additional diplomatic breakthroughs with other nations are possible, and will work together to achieve this goal. “Our vision is one of peace, security, and prosperity—in this region, and in the world. Our goal is a coalition of nations who share the aim of stamping out extremism and providing our children a hopeful future that does honor to God.” – President Donald J. Trump said
