World-renowned entertainment powerhouse Cirque du Soleil is set to make a triumphant return to São Paulo with ‘Alegría – In a New Light,’ a contemporary reimagining of one of the most beloved and critically acclaimed productions in the company’s history. The limited engagement will run from August 20 through November 8, 2026, setting up its iconic Grand Chapiteau (Big Top) at Parque Villa-Lobos, located at Avenida Queiroz Filho, 1.315 in the Vila Hamburguesa neighborhood.
Originally premiered in 1994, ‘Alegría’ became a defining global phenomenon, captivating more than 14 million spectators across 255 cities in over two decades of touring. Re-energized for a new generation on its 25th anniversary, ‘In a New Light’ preserves the emotional core and timeless, Grammy-nominated musical score of the original masterpiece while introducing bold new acrobatics, innovative costume designs, updated musical arrangements, and immersive stage craft.
The narrative centers on a once-glorious kingdom that has lost its ruler, exploring the profound struggle between the established aristocratic old order and the vibrant energy of youth yearning for change, renewal, and hope. Under the Grand Chapiteau, audiences in São Paulo will witness awe-inspiring aerial acrobatics, gravity-defying contortion, dynamic choreography, and quintessential theatrical clowning. Official tickets for the São Paulo season are available through Eventim.
