The beginning of Chinese CORONAVAC tests on Brazilians.

During a press conference this Tuesday (21) morning, the Governor of São Paulo, João Doria, with the presence of Tarcisio de Barros Filho – Director of the Medical School of USP and president of the deliberative council of Hospital das Clínicas, Dimas Covas – Director of Instituto Butantan, Esper Kallas – Head of the Department of Infectious and Parasitic Diseases at USP Medical School and Coordinator of the Clinical Research Center at the Central Institute of Hospital das Clínicas FMUSP, announce the beginning of the tests of the Chinese CORONAVAC vaccine on Brazilian volunteers at Hospital das Clinicas. Twenty thousand doses of the vaccine were sent to the Butantã Institute to fight the pandemic of the New Coronavirus (Covid19), according to the government of São Paulo, the forecast to make the vaccine available to the population should occur in the beginning of 2021.

The airplane bringing the Chinese vaccine had left Frankfurt early Monday (20) morning and arrived at Guarulhos international airport in São Paulo same day. The vaccine was taken to Butanta institute for onward testing on Brazilians. According to Joao Doria, the Governor of the state, only front line health care workers from São Paulo, three other federal states and the federal district will take part in the study which will last for 3 months.

As of the time of this article, according to Johns Hopkins university, there are 2.12million + confirmed cases of Coronavirus patients with more than 80,120 thousand deaths and almost 1000+ Brazilians dying on a daily basis.
