People say “Love is blind,” “Love is a dangerous game.“ You sometimes have a winner and a loser. When you fall in love, you do everything to satisfy your partner, go out of your way to keep it going and cherish it. Love has no boundaries, there is no color, race, height, weight restrictions. People just fall in love with anyone or anything and no wonder in the case of Mr Sam, a mortician who falls in love with a corpse. A dead body. A lifeless person.
You might be wondering, how could that happen ? Yes, Sam, was in love. He has an incurable problem and many secrets, including his new found love for a corpse which have been hidden from everyone until it was discovered by his best friend Sandra. She caught him in the act and luckily for him, Sandra has her own secret as well and they both decide to maintain their secrets to themselves. Sam hasn’t told his mother about his new love and that might be a big problem for him as he hasn’t spoken to her for a while.
Mr Sam, as the title says, is a short film from director Zeus Kontoyanis and it is worth watching.
There is suspense, empathy and you get carried along with it. The sound track music leads you to understand how Mr Sam feels and you feel sorry for him. He behaves like a child who needs attention and love. Perhaps, he had been rejected by loved ones and he was able to find that missing love in his best friend Sandra; who understands him much better.
In fact, working as a mortician sometimes isolate him from the society into his own secret world and no wonder, his love life is and will be unacceptable to the common world. His behavior sometimes depict danger to people and thus, seems like a threat to them even though Mr Sam wouldn’t hurt any soul. He just want to love his new partner; a corpse.
