The Final Draw for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 setting the path for the 29 teams that have qualified until now, along with the eight teams that remain in contention, three of whom will seal the last spots up for grabs in June took place on April 1 in Qatar.
The show was presented by Award-winning actor Idris Elba and renowned broadcaster Reshmin Chowdhury and with live performances inspired by a striking fusion of traditional and modern providing guests at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center, and fans at home a taste of what to expect from the host country, Qatar.
According to Elba “I’ve been on many stages before, but this will be a very special one. I’m delighted to present this beautiful show to the world, together with Reshmin. It will be a classic show and somewhat daring,”.
“I’m beyond excited. It’s been a thrill to find out the qualified teams and see the anticipation everywhere here in Doha, and it’s a privilege to have such a prominent role in the show. As a Muslim woman, it’ll be an extra-special honour to be on stage for this milestone event ahead of the very first FIFA World Cup in the Arab world,” added Chowdhury.
Cafu (Brazil) and Lothar Matthäus (Germany) FIFA World Cup champions and six others, Adel Ahmed MalAllah (Qatar), Ali Daei (IR Iran), Bora Milutinović (Serbia/Mexico), Jay-Jay Okocha (Nigeria), Rabah Madjer (Algeria) and Tim Cahill (Australia) participated in the final draw to reveal the groups for the 2022 edition of football’s global showpiece and not forgetting the conducting team: Carli Lloyd, Jermaine Jenas and Samantha Johnson.
Hayya Hayya (Better Together) FIFA official soundtrack was also released during this Final Draw, featuring Trinidad Cardona, Davido and Aisha, draws on R&B and reggae influences playing to delight of all and sundry. And La’eeb is revealed as Qatar’s FIFA World Cup mascot.
