19 people dead including 9 children in a fire accident in Bronx.

The city of New York witnessed one of the worst fire accident in 30 years when a 19-story building caught fire on Sunday 9, killing about 19 people, including 9 children.

The fire started on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the building in the morning and firemen arrived at the local in about 3 minutes after the call. More than 50 people were injured with some having life threatening injures because of smoke inhalation.

According to the New York City Fire Commissioner, Daniel Nigro, the fire started in a duplex apartment on the 2nd and 3rd floors caused by malfunctions of electric space heater and then, the door of that apartment was opened thus allowing smoke to spread to other parts of the building located on 333 East 181st Street, Bronx. He said, they found dead people in every floor..

The Mayor of New York City, Eric Adams, the Governor of New York State, Kathy Hochul, Democratic Senate leader, Chuck Schumer and New York City Fire Commissioner, Daniel Nigro gave press conference to update media corp on the fire accident in Bronx.

Most of the people living in the building are from the Muslim community from Gambia, Africa and the city will try every possible means to help cater and support those families affected in the accident independent of their immigration status, said the Mayor. “We are in a moment where we are facing a multiple crisis at one time and we won’t succeed if we are not united,” He added.

The Mayor also thanked the 200 firemen on the spot for their relentless effort and hardwork to stop the fire even when their oxygen were empty.

A victim compensation fund will be established to help the victims of this fire incident according to Kathy Hochul, the Governor of New York. And she continued “The Mayor and I will never forget you, will never abandon you, we are here for you.”

Senate majority leader, Schumer, promised to get federal help on housing, taxes and immigration assistances, for the victims and their families.
