Fire hit a Federal Hospital of Bonsucesso, in the northern zone of Rio de Janeiro, on Tuesday (27) causing the death of one 42 years old patient while being transferred from the hospital. She was tested positive for Covid-19.

The fire started in the morning and SAMU health workers and firemen were at the local to provide first aid and the firemen were able to control the flames. The hospital is on Avenida Brasil and a very important one serving the needs of many patients in Rio de Janeiro.

The fire was concentrated in building 1, where the emergency section is. And according to the Fire Department, the hospital had no Certificate of Approval from them.

Some patients were being removed from the hospital and housed temporarily in a tire store near the hospital while about 46 patients transferred to seven nearby hospitals.

It was a very sad situation and experience as some women were going through birth deliveries and they had to be rescued quickly.
