The 95th São Silvestre marathon held this Tuesday morning (31) in São Paulo was won by Africans both in the male and female categories. For men, Kibiwott Kandle, Kenya (42min 59s) first, Jacob Kiplimo, Uganda ( 43min) second and Titus Ekiru, Kenya (43min 54s) third. Brazilian Daniel Ferreira do Nascimento was in 11th place (43min 54s). For women, Brigid Kosgei, Kenya (48min 54s) first, Sheila Chelangat, Kenya (50min 10s) second and Tisadk Alem Nigus from Ethiopia (50min 12s) third. Brazilian Graziele Zarri ranked 11th (54min 56s). The race started and ended on Paulista Avenue,in São Paulo with people cheering and motivating the athletes as they ran through the city.The Africans have always excelled in this marathon right from the start and no wonder ,they continue to be a strong force to reckon with . The race always happens at the last day of every year to usher in the new year .
