1st GRACE JAMAICAN JERK FESTIVAL IN WASHINGTON DC
The first ever Grace Jamaican Jerk Festival was held on June 19th 2016 in Washington DC with various musical shows; side attractions, food, kids entertainment to mention but a few and it was in celebration of Caribbean American heritage Month. The intention was to promote Jamaican music,culture and life style here in Washington and in the USA. It was organized by Dr Claire Nelson and her partner and according to her, it wasn`t so easy and took a longer time before this event was even made possible.It started around 12pm and went on till 9pm on Pennsylvania Avenue,NW between 12th and 14th Streets.The expected entertainment at the evnt were by Freddie Mcgregor, Christopher Martin, Edwin Yearwood ,Ikaya ,Nomaddz,,Image band,Sound of Culture,Pan Lara Youth Steel Orchestra,Richards Carnival Masquerade,Malcom X Dancers & Drummers,Judith Falloon-Reid Jam.Author, DJ G-Nice, MC & Comedian-Michael Campbell and the presence of Patrica Chin,the Co Founder of the biggest Reggae Label-VP Records..The tickets were $20 for advanced purchase and $30 at the gate and there were many people at the event and also because of the Father`s day celebration,people came with their families and loved ones.There were protections and security provided by the Police and other security guards.
